How it works
How AI credits work
Static security and cost scans are always free and unlimited. Paid plans add AI-powered analysis - actionable recommendations explained in plain English - with a generous monthly credit allowance.
1. Run your scan
Point CDK Insights at your CDK project and run npx cdk-insights scan. Static analysis runs on every plan, free and unlimited.
2. AI credits are spent
Each resource the AI analyses spends credits at the model's rate (default GLM 4.7 Flash = 0.5 credits per resource). Pro includes 10,000 credits per month; Team includes 20,000 per seat. Cached results don't count.
3. Track your usage
Monitor your AI credit usage from your dashboard. Usage resets each billing cycle and you'll get alerts as you approach your limit.

You can run AI analysis on any of these Bedrock models. More capable models cost more credits per resource. The default works well for most stacks - pick a stronger model when you want deeper reasoning.

Quotas are 500 / 10,000 / 20,000 credits. At the 0.5-credit default, that is about 1,000 / 20,000 / 40,000 fresh resource analyses. Switch via the ai.model config or --model flag.

What's included in the free plan?+
Two ways to use CDK Insights for free. Without an account: install the CLI via npm and get unlimited static analysis with 145 rules, multi-stack support, and six output formats - it runs entirely on your machine with no signup needed. Sign up for a free account and you also get 500 AI credits per month, plus access to the dashboard. Both are free forever, no credit card required.
How does the AI analysis work?+
CDK Insights sends your synthesised CloudFormation template to our AI analysis engine, which evaluates your infrastructure against AWS best practices for security, cost optimisation, reliability, and performance. Results are returned with actionable recommendations ranked by severity. Your source code never leaves your machine - only the synthesised output is analysed.
Can I cancel anytime?+
Yes, you can cancel your Pro or Team subscription at any time. There are no long-term contracts or cancellation fees. When you cancel, you retain access to your paid features until the end of your current billing period, then your account reverts to the free plan.
What payment methods do you accept?+
We accept all major credit and debit cards including Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Payments are securely processed through Stripe. All prices are listed in GBP.
Is there a trial period?+
The free plan is available indefinitely and requires no credit card, so you can evaluate CDK Insights static analysis at your own pace. For the Pro plan, we offer a free trial so you can experience AI-powered analysis before committing to a paid subscription.
How does team licensing work?+
Team plans require a minimum of 2 seats and include 20,000 AI credits per seat per month. Each team member gets their own dashboard, and team administrators can manage members, assign one of five built-in roles, share configurations, and view team-wide analytics.
Can I buy extra AI credits?+
Yes. Customers with an active license can buy one-time credit packs from the dashboard. Add-on credits do not expire, are used only after the monthly allowance, and never renew automatically. The CLI always shows the maximum credit cost before an AI scan starts.
What AWS services does CDK Insights support?+
CDK Insights analyses any resource in your synthesised CloudFormation template, covering all AWS services that CDK supports. This includes common services like S3, Lambda, IAM, EC2, RDS, DynamoDB, API Gateway, ECS, and many more. Our static analysis rules and AI engine are continuously updated to cover new services and best practices.
